Team Lead- Polymerization Lab -Charlotte, NC

 

 

In support of our R&D growth strategy, the Team Lead for Polymerization lab (PolyLab) will (1) lead a team of lab coordinators and technicians, responsible for the operations of dispersions, resins and additives synthesis as part of R&D group responsibility, supporting the EDN businesses and manufacturing operations, (2) support scheduling and efficient & safe operations of the lab reactors and related assets in alignment with business and manufacturing priorities (3) establish a work environment that allows employees to achieve goals in the areas of safety, health, environment, quality, cost control and productivity through ownership and team responsibility (4) be responsible for safe and timely execution of capital projects and operational excellence initiatives (5) manage maintenance, repair and calibration of lab equipment including reactors, testing equipment, and all auxiliary supporting systems in place for the operation of the lab in alignment with the site safety and facilities group standards (6) support the implementation of metrics to track and improve lab work efficiency, raw material and equipment procurement, control programming, lab ISO program, RCRA coordination, and other central lab functions, and (7) speed up product launch activities by enabling and improving scale up processes and equipment for a smooth transfer of R&D products to large scale manufacturing.

 

 

Formula for Success:

What we Look for in You:

 

Education & Experience

•           Ph.D. in polymer or material science, chemical engineering & 2 years of relevant experience

•           Master’s degree in science and 5 years of relevant experience

•           Bachelor’s degree in science and 7 years of relevant experience  

•           A minimum of 2 years R&D/ industry experience in the field of polymer synthesis, characterization and formulation development

•           A minimum of 2 years technical management experience

 

Knowledge/Skills

•           Excellent hands-on experimentation and superior problem-solving skills.

•           Excellent communication skills and ability to work and partner effectively with individuals outside of own organization.

•           A passion for continuously learning and applying new tools for developing new processes & products

•           Basic understanding of process equipment design including pumps, polymerization reactors, pressure relief valve sizing, material balances, instrument specifications, and heat exchangers. Knowledge of automation systems (PLC, DCS) a large plus.
