Company Overview: Our school district is committed to providing a safe and secure digital environment for students, staff, and faculty. As a Network Security Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of our network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Patch Management:
    • Implement and manage the patch management process across all networked devices and systems.
    • Ensure timely updates and patches to mitigate vulnerabilities and maintain system integrity.
    • Develop and maintain documentation related to patch management processes and schedules.
  • Vulnerability Assessment:
    • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
    • Use industry-standard tools and methodologies to evaluate the security posture of the network.
    • Prepare reports detailing the findings of vulnerability assessments and recommend corrective actions.
  • Firewall Management (Palo Alto):
    • Configure, manage, and monitor Palo Alto firewalls to safeguard the school district's network.
    • Develop and implement firewall policies and rules to control traffic and prevent unauthorized access.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve firewall-related issues promptly.
  • Cortex Support:
    • Provide support for Cortex security solutions, ensuring they are effectively integrated and operational.
    • Monitor and respond to security alerts generated by Cortex.
    • Collaborate with other IT staff to optimize the use of Cortex for enhanced security monitoring and response.
  • Network Access Control (NAC) and Zero Trust:
    • Implement and manage NAC solutions to control device access to the network.
    • Promote and enforce a Zero Trust security model within the school district's IT infrastructure.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve NAC and Zero Trust strategies.
  • Identity Access Management (IAM):
    • Manage and support IAM systems to ensure secure and efficient access to network resources.
    • Implement and maintain user authentication and authorization mechanisms.
    • Conduct regular audits of IAM processes to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in network security roles.
  • Proven experience in patch management and vulnerability assessment.
  • Proficiency in managing Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience with Cortex security solutions.
  • Knowledge of Network Access Control (NAC) and Zero Trust principles.
  • Strong understanding of Identity Access Management (IAM) practices.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Palo Alto Networks certifications) are highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
