Job Summary
The Graduate Residence Director (GRD) is a member of the University Housing and Residence Life team and provides support in the residential education of students living on campus (one residence hall and two apartment complexes, approximately 1200 beds). The GRD maintains high student interaction and visibility for assigned residential communities (Laker Hall or Laker Village) and serves as a resource for the residential experience needs of students living on campus. The GRD will provide leadership for the Resident Assistant program including recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation. The GRD reports to the Assistant Director of Residential Education and directly supervises up to 2 Lead Resident Assistants and up to 17 Resident Assistants. The position is a live-on position. Enrollment in full-time graduate coursework at CSU is required at the time of hire.

Qualifications

Bachelor¿s degree
Previous residence life experience preferred but not required.
Must be available July 1 for training and throughout the summer months for Lead, LLC, and RA training.
Must be specifically available July 29th-August 10th for fall opening preparation and student move-in periods.
Compensation

Furnished two-bedroom apartment with internet and all other utilities included.
Tuition is provided for up to 9 credit hours each Fall and Spring semester.
Declining meal balance
$1365 stipend per month over a 10-month period, August 1st to May 31st.

RA Supervision

Supervision of the RA includes coordinating administrative tasks and area programming, conducting staff meetings, bi-weekly one-on-ones, and performance evaluations, ensuring desk shifts and duty schedules are actively covered, and dynamic mentorship are the daily functions of the GRD. Each GRD will supervise the staff of Resident Assistants.

Area Programming

GRDs provide direct support in RA programming efforts for their area. They work with RAs to assess student needs and develop programming goals to meet identified needs. GRDs oversee the implementation of area programming, providing direction for student staff.

Living Learning Community Support

GRDs provide support in administration and programming efforts for the Living Learning Communities (LLCs) in their communities. They work with LLC RAs to support both QEP initiatives at Laker Hall and/or interest-based housing initiatives at Laker Village.

Student Staff Development

Each GRD will work with the Assistant Director to determine staff training needs, assist with in-service training, and plan weekly RA staff for their community of supervision.

Administrative Responsibilities

GRDs hold 19.5 posted office hours to assist the needs of HRL, residents, and staff. Daily access and response to student email are expected of GRDs. As a building coordinator, GRDs are to maintain an organized filing of student information and suite/apartment documentation and support the housing operations team in communicating residents' maintenance or key-related requests. GRDs are to manage building move-ins and move-outs, providing guidance and communication to residents and student staff. GRDs also coordinate and schedule lounge/room usage for their area (Laker Hall MPR or study rooms/Laker Village Housing Office). GRDs may be given collateral assignments or other duties as assigned.

Personal & Professional Development

Bi-weekly one-on-ones held with the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life. Weekly staff meetings will occur between the Residence Life team. Other collaborations are possible depending on department or community needs.
