Summary

The Gaylord Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) is affiliated with the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, located in Saginaw, Michigan. We are currently recruiting for a Physician (Cardiologist) to work in our Gaylord CBOC with coverage to other CBOC's and Saginaw. This Cardiology position will function in our Specialty Care Service and requires extensive knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices in the field of Cardiology, with board certification preference in Cardiology.



Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses cardiac diseases, prevention, and health promotion issues of the Veteran population.
  • Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
  • Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term cardiac healthcare issues.
  • Recognizes abnormalities and provides services and treatment as directed by protocols and makes referrals to other disciplines and services as indicated.
  • Educates patients about preventative care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments to enhance awareness of health issues and relevant services.
  • Fulfills continuing education, licensure and or Certification requirements to maintain required qualifications.
  • May be asked to participate in facility special projects and teach Medical Residents from Central Michigan University College of Medicine and other facility affiliates as well as other Clinical Programs.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years). Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm
