Role Overview:
The INDOT Crawfordsville District is in search of Summer Seasonal Workers interested in joining our team. This position will be part of the Facilities maintenance repair team and will be performing repair work, landscaping, and snow and ice removal activities at INDOT facilities in the Crawfordsville District including the district office complex, sub-district, & units.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.24 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Location:
This position is located in INDOT's Crawfordsville area.
A Day in the Life:The essential elements of the job duties:
- Complies with INDOT Safety Policies and Procedures
- Safely perform mowing, landscaping, and facets of building maintenance and repairs, which include plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, concrete work, parts delivery/pick up, washing buildings/windows,
- Moves and loads supplies and materials, including usage of tire disposal machine
- Winter operations duties including snow and ice removal
- Performs equipment maintenance such as: minor repairs, preventative maintenance, filling, and preventative maintenance inspections
- Performs miscellaneous labor tasks
- Assists with implementation/improvement of Maintenance programs, procedures, and project planning
- Assists in ensuring that the facilities and grounds are in a constant state of survey readiness froma maintenance perspective
- Initiates repair parts order request and recommends items for inventory stock and monitors' use
- Assists in repairs to various facilities motors, panels, transformers, lighting systems, brinemakers, lift stations, concrete patching/repairing, etc
- May perform basic construction inspection duties, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need for Success:This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- High school graduate or equivalent(preferred)
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must have valid commercial driver's license (CDL)
- Working knowledge in one of more of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, mowing
- Required to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment
- Must be able to lift 100pounds
- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing and walking for long periods of time
- Must be able to endure exposure to inclement weather
- Must have ability to read, write, and communicate clearly
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Ability to rotate shifts, when necessary
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
