Full Time Anesthesiology Physician

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (VAHCS) seeks a full time Board Certified/Board Eligible Anesthesiologist who will complete our VA team. Priority consideration is given to candidates with additional training and/or experience in: perioperative anesthesia services (preoperative anesthesia clinic, ERAS protocols, perioperative home surgery), cardiac anesthesia (cardiothoracic surgeries, structural heart procedures, TEE certification), and/or acute perioperative pain management (performance of peripheral nerve blocks under ultrasound guidance, peripheral nerve catheter placements, perioperative pain rounds).
Scope of duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Applicants must have a strong desire to teach residents, student nurse anesthetists, fellows, medical students, and other learners.
- All anesthesiologists participate in: provision of clinical anesthesia services in supervising CRNAs or residents in an Anesthesia Care Team Model, departmental development (M&M, QI projects, etc.), avenues available to research and toward publication of valid and appropriate subject matters, and collaborative projects with other departments.
- Candidates will be considered for a University of Minnesota academic faculty appointment through the UMN department of Anesthesiology. Rank will be dependent on academic background and clinical experience.
- This position provides the opportunity to join a group of energetic and dynamic anesthesia providers aligned with VA's Mission, Vision and Core Values. The workweek is Monday through Friday with evening, night, weekend and holiday call shared equally with staff anesthesiologists.
Education Debt Reduction Program: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office. The EDRP Coordinator is Denise Mitrenga.
Work Schedule: Full time 6:30am to 3pm (Monday-Friday) or 6:30am to 5pm (4 days a week) with night, weekend and holiday on-call, shared equally with staff anesthesiologists.
