Indianapolis, United States Eli Lilly and Company Full time

At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

In 1992, Eli Lilly and Company established the delivery device business for the purpose of designing, developing, launching, and continuously improving proprietary delivery device systems. This business is unique to the broader Lilly Research Labs (LRL) organization due to its focus on patient-centered delivery system solutions, its new way to design and develop delivery platforms utilizing both internal and external technologies, and its level of integration with the commercial groups and Business Units. The Delivery Device Connect Solutions (DDCS) organization leverages alliances in design and manufacturing to rapidly convert proprietary concepts into products that meet the users’ needs and intended uses.

In response to a rapidly growing portfolio of projects, DDCS is seeking an Advisor – Engineering within the Packaging Systems team. You will be an individual contributor for container closure system and pharmaceutical devices characterization with ability to influence the strategy for our IMPACTS (Imaging, Material, Performance, Analytical, Container Closure Integrity, Transportation and Surface Science) laboratories. The ideal candidate for this role will have the potential to be a future leader with supervisor and leadership responsibilities. You should be experienced in a variety of analytical techniques for container closure integrity testing (CCIT), materials testing, mechanical testing, X-ray CT imaging, and microscopy to characterize and evaluate container closure and device component attributes and performance. You should be able to analyze, interpret, and communicate data to stakeholders and drive execution across multiple projects and programs, We are seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to impact the following areas:

Identify and evaluate new analytical testing technologies and test methods to continually improve lab capabilities.

Take projects forward with speed, solving challenging scientific/technical/logistical problems along the way (balancing creativity/innovation with replication).

Quickly become productive when assigned to new projects by effectively demonstrating mastery of complex new subject areas with minimum guidance.

Influence teams to undertake the right experiments to enable decision making in the shortest possible time.

Have excellent interpersonal and team building skills and maintain a track record of building collaborative scientific relationships.

Provide strong technical mentorship for Container Closure Systems Engineers, Laboratory Engineers and other scientists through direct coaching and timely feedback.

Partner with management team to develop organizational talent within the organization.

Interact across groups, including other departments, regulatory agencies, and functional groups.

Effectively communicate project goals and progress at governance committees and other LRL forums.

Technology Outreach

Champion the external world presence and brand reputation for LRL and DDCS through personal involvement in external activities (e.g., publishing or presenting at external conferences, participation in external standards organizations).

Leverage this reputation to build strategic relationships and to facilitate collaborations, research agreements, and outsourcing with world class external partners.
