Description

SAIC is looking for candidates that Possess technical expertise in Spacecraft Command Data & Handling systems and Spacecraft/Payload Electrical Power Subsystems (EPS).  Member will be an integral participant in subsystem architecture, requirements development and verification, and unit design of C&DH to include data storage devices, on-board flight computers, command routing and distribution hardware and flight firmware and software. Additionally, member will be versed in subsystem architecture, requirements development and verification, and unit design of EPS to include spacecraft electrical power generation, storage, regulation, distribution, and fusing.  Evaluate spacecraft and payload electronics designs for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). The selected candidate will be an integral participant in subsystem architecture, requirements development and verification, and unit design of a common electrical power subsystem.  Key areas of focus include hardware and software engineering; review of developer’s data systems designs; evaluation of operating modes; and witnessing verification and validation activities; design, development, integration, and test for cable and harness engineering; electrical design integration, solar cells, batteries and power storage, power converters, and power distribution.  Also experienced in the Parts, Materials and Processes, design & integration of satellite buses and knowledgeable of launch & flight operations of space vehicles.

 

  • Reviews and coordinates changes to specifications, ICDs, and system level requirements documentation for spacecraft and payload EPS subsystems
  • Tracks development issues and attends unit, subsystem, system level design reviews
  • Supports launch and spacecraft on-orbit test as required
  • Identifies and assesses emerging risks and develops & evaluates proposed burn-down plans
  • Reviews developer’s readiness to proceed into spacecraft test at various levels of assembly
  • Support customer at PM&P activities including teleconferences and PMPCB meetings
  • Provide expert advice concerning PMPCB requests for government approvals of waivers, deviations, non-standard parts and materials requests
  • Provide support to PM&P anomaly investigations as required by the customer for prime developer and sub-contractor development and manufacturing
  • Provide technical evaluation of PM&P efforts in engineering change proposals
  • Experience in DoD IC acquisition and program management processes

Qualifications

·       10+ years of experience

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required

·       Experience with spacecraft and payload electrical power subsystems development and test

·       Experience with spacecraft onboard computer hardware and software development and test

·       Strong attention to detail

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills

·       Ability to work collaboratively with personnel from multiple functions and at all levels of the customer organization to deliver results; strong networking, interpersonal, customer service skills, team building and problem-solving skills with an ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment

·       Excellent Organizational skills, ability to plan, track and maintain due dates for multiple taskers and products central to customer acquisition processes
