Job Description

  • Installation of new software — It is primarily the job of the DBA to install new versions of Oracle’s fusion middleware, application software, and other software related to the web application tier; and Drupal, PHP, MySQL using source code version control software (i.e.,git, gitlab), and Jenkins for BSD’s Portal 

  • Administration and installation of Oracle forms, reports and web content. 

  • Oracle’s authentication and LDAP administration. IT security - Securely configure all components of the application to conform to CIS/DISA recommended best practices. 

  • Performance Tuning - Work with application developers and Oracle support to tune the JVM and other components of the WebLogic service to perform optimally. 

  • Administer Oracle’s Portal and/or Web Center; and BSD’s Drupal Portal. 

  • Serve as backup for DBA #2. 

  • Day-to-day administration support to maximize uptime and performance of the production system. These tasks include:

  1. Monitoring of database, server, web and network performance via Quest Foglight. 

  2. Backup and recovery planning, and documentation. implementation and testing. 

  3. Disaster recovery planning, documentation, implementation and testing. 

  4. Follow IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes and procedures for change, request, and incident management using the client’s instance of ServiceNow; 

  5. Planning, testing and installation of Oracle and MySQL quarterly critical patch updates. 

  6. Planning, testing and installation of Oracle and MySQL code releases. 

  7. Planning, testing, and installation of customized code, reports, and forms. 

  8. Follow the client’s outage policy. Most RM updates that require an outage will need to be scheduled outside of normal work hours. 

  9. Provide monthly capacity planning reports for database and application servers using stats gathered from Quest and MySQL monitoring tools. Provide administration support for the Quest monitoring products. Including the development of custom monitoring agents and alerts.

  10. Provide operational coverage when the DBA staff is unavailable.

  11. Tune long-running jobs. 

  12. Set up automatic alerts of critical database/application events associated with security or availability. 

  13. Monitor and enforce IT security policies. Where necessary encrypt network traffic using Oracle advanced security option. 

  14. Follow client and NIST policy in the proper handling of Personally Identifying Information (PD). 

  15. Resolve help desk tickets in a timely manner. 

  16. Securely configure databases and web services per the Center for Internet Security (CIS) guidelines. 

  17. Assist DBA security officer in the certification and accreditation of all systems associated with this task order. 

  18. Provide Oracle Fusion Middleware administration support in a load balanced environment.

  19. Provide Drupal, PHP, and MySQL administration support in a load balanced environment. 

  • Perform feasibility studies and research of new products/functionality as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Financial Systems and Oracle’s web application technology, Drupal, PHP, and MySQL. 
  • Demonstrated competency with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins. 
  • Experience using the latest Oracle Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and associated Oracle development and query tools; and other software support products such as performance testing software and configuration management software. 
  • Must have Oracle Professional Certification in area of expertise.
  • Certification in the latest Oracle Application Middleware administration (e.g. Oracle Fusion Middleware). 
  • Experience in software maintenance and change control tools such as ServiceNow and JIRA. 
  • Must have received qualification on the most current version of the ITIL Foundation level. A certificate of completion is required. 
  • Must have received basic training on Agile software delivery methodology. A certificate of completion is required. 
  • All staff performing in a Scrum Master role, need Scrum Master certification. A certificate of completion is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience 
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills. 
  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and technical skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to complete a federal background investigation. 
  • Must be a US Citizen or have a Green Card.
