Overview

PRN Education Coordinator Chef, Brenner FIT

6 hours per week, evening shift

JOB SUMMARY: 

Takes part in the development and execution of Brenner FIT cooking classes/educational trainings. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and lead classes/trainings. Exhibits dependability, responsiveness, a positive attitude, flexibility and the ability to work with a team. 

Must haves: 

  • Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field required. 
  • Formal culinary training
  • ServSafe certification required

Nice to have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.  
  • Experience mentoring other chefs or teaching cooking skills in other settings and 2-3 years’ experience preferred.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Formal culinary training
  • Experience mentoring other chefs or teaching cooking skills 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist dietitians in planning menu and recipes for cooking classes. 
  2. Test recipes as needed for cooking classes.
  3. Lead preparation and cleanup for cooking classes; providing direction/training to Brenner FIT volunteers/students.
  4. Lead cooking classes including instruction for how to prepare food and supervision of class participants.
  5. Monitor staff, volunteers and participants to ensure food safety guidelines are followed.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Some lifting and moving of equipment required. 
  • Duties will involve use of knives, ovens, cooktops and maintaining food safety.
  • Classes will be taught at the Brenner FIT Kitchen and potentially other remote locations.
