Boat Captain

Our boat captains are the capstone of our stunning tours They are the people responsible for showing our passengers the stunning sights of the waters surrounding Juneau. We are looking for people who want to be out on the water, and are excited to share our whales with the world 

We pay hourly so you actually get your time off We won't have you standing around all day waiting for a tour that never comes. If you work a 40 hour work week, this position pays over $8,000 a month (and that doesn't include any tips you take home). The pay just increases with every hour you work above that baseline 

We offer higher wages for "on-call" captains who have open availability and only want a couple trips a week. However, even our "on-call" captains will get their schedule a week in advance. 

Friends and family get complementary tours throughout the season. 

Essential Job Functions

• Learn the waters of Juneau, and take your passengers to find whales
• Share your knowledge when questioned 
• Vessel operation and maintenance
• Ensure safety procedures are followed
• Help with scheduled maintenance and repairs
• Maintain necessary logs
• Support the marine mechanic

A 25T marine captain's license is the minimum required, but more is always nice The candidate must exhibit a passion for whales and wildlife.

Additional requirements:

• Familiar with Coast Guard regulations
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 25T Captains license
• First Aid and CPR certification
• USCG Drug test
