Park Ranger

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Park Ranger assisting the ranger staff with the routine day-to-day duties required to operate and maintain the recreational facility to which the employee is assigned.

Duties

• Provide routine visitor assistance such as: answering visitor's questions; giving directions; explaining common park rules; collecting recreational use fees; and assisting higher graded rangers control vehicular traffic.
• Assist higher graded Park Rangers in the development, presentation, and maintenance of interpretive programs.
• Assist higher graded Park Rangers in completing resource management projects, such as: planting and/or watering trees; building signs; patrolling camp sites; and working as part of a crew engaged in project maintenance.
• Assist higher graded Park Rangers with administrative duties by: checking progress and completion of routine service contractor's work (e.g., janitorial) and reporting findings; and utilizing a personal computer to enter and retrieve data.
