Job Overview
As an entry level Data Center Lab Technician L1, you will be working in a Data Center on a team of Data Center Lab Technicians in collaboration with remote-adjacent sysadmin teams. You will work onsite Monday through Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm (MST) in supporting server installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair, You will also provide remote hands support for networking equipment and cabling. As an entry level Data Center Lab Technician, you are expected to possess developing knowledge and experience working in Data Centers, with Servers and related knowledge.

How You Will Make An Impact:
• Support a large fleet of servers and data centers for a prominent customer.
• Apply a developing approach to diagnostic methods to troubleshoot data center equipment including servers, network switches, and peripheral devices.
• Apply a developing approach to server repair methods.
• Understand and follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) in the execution of day-to-day work.
• Perform thorough documentation using the prescribed service ticket management system and any related OEM Supply Chain portals.
• Assist in the physical moving of racks and equipment as directed for special projects.
• Ensure compliance with the identified process to maintain an organized and orderly work environment.
• Safely and efficiently performs assigned processes to meet the required daily operations activities, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and documentation processes.
• Collaborates and communicates with adjacent logistics specialists, data center technicians, engineering staff, and other stakeholders involved in the management of assets within the data center with respect to deployments, break-fix and change requests
• Understand overall ticket management process
• Tracks, traces, and updates the accurate statuses of tickets and other lines of work-related communications.
• Start to understand, learn and apply diagnostic methods to troubleshoot data center equipment
• Pull required inventory as defined by inventory process with accuracy
• Maintain and update inventory systems as required
• Participate in daily, monthly, and quarterly asset audits in compliance with financial standards.
• Start to understand, learn and apply server repair methods to data center equipment
• Repair servers (replace hard drives; replace bad sticks of RAM, motherboards etc.)
• Physically assist in moving and racking equipment as directed for special projects
• Follow the '5S Pillars' methodology (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) for organizing, cleaning, developing, and sustaining a productive work environment
• Ensure compliance with e-waste storage and disposal standards within the data center
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety standards within the data center.
• Ensure compliance with administrative directives
• Augments supply chain logistics when and where required
• Perform other tasks as required by management

What You Need to Succeed:
• Basic knowledge of and hand-on experience with computer hardware (e.g. CPU, Memory, Hard Drives, Motherboards, NICs)
• Excellent customer service mindset willing to meet and exceed customer expectations
• Exposure to service management or ticketing systems
• High level of written and oral fluency in English
• Self-motivated, professional and high level of attention to detail
• Able to work independently and as a proactive team-player
• Able to work well in isolation and on repetitive tasks
• Ability to learn new skills quickly
• Agile Mindset with strong ability to multi-task
• Able to safely lift and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds

Preferred Skills:
• College degree or equivalent in a technology related field a plus
• Basic understanding of data center environments and technologies
• 1+ years of experience working in a data center environment
• Hardware break-fix experience, preferably in a data center environment
• 1+ years of experience working in a supply chain logistics environment
• Knowledge of computer applications preferably with Slack, Teams, Jira, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Products

Exact compensation and offers of employment are dependent on circumstances of each case and will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, licenses or certifications, and location.
