The Maintenance Superintendent focuses on safe and reliable execution of mechanical maintenance work throughout the plant by demonstrating responsible, positive leadership for two direct report supervisors, and on average sixty embedded contractors. Ensures work team adheres to the maintenance work management system and meeting weekly schedules. Serves as a technical leader for the mechanical maintenance technicians and leads by example. Communicates effectively with the team operations, engineering, and management. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and is located at our Geismar, Louisiana Site.


What you will do:

  • Provide overall guidance with clear vision for corporate reliability strategy and KPI goals for Maintenance (schedule, PM compliance, etc.)
  • Lead the employee life-cycle activities for Mechanical Maintenance such as hiring, termination, promotions, annual performance reviews, succession planning
  • Model and communicate the corporate principles and site safety vision to team
  • Embrace continuous improvement methodology and positively influences others
  • Assesses failures and root cause analysis to improve bad actors
  • Ensure the proper execution of Preventative/Predictive Maintenance Strategies and follow-up
  • Follow major equipment repairs and ensure associated QA/QC procedures/recommendations are followed prior to work completion
  • Work with the Training Department to identify developmental and training opportunities for all direct and indirect reports
  • Work with Planning and Turnaround teams to develop scope and schedule for routine and major outages
  • Work with Procurement team to optimize procurement contracts
  • Perform the duties of the Weekend Emergency Manager on a rotating schedule
  • Strengthen relationships with the Reliability and Operations teams through trust
  • Employ good cost control awareness, discipline, and maintaining budgets
  • Ensure supervisors are forecasting weekly available work hours to planning department

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline is preferred. Technical Associates degree and or equivalent work experience may be considered
  • 7+ years of direct report leadership experience required
  • Maintenance experience in the petrochemical or related industry
  • Highly knowledgeable regarding Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, especially as they relate to a successful Mechanical Integrity (MI) program
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, including, but not limited to API, PIP, ASME
  • Communicate and establish safety policies and procedures when required
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) as issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration)

 

Physical demands:

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing to work in protected areas and at heights
  • Ability to wear a respirator
