Assistant Professor, Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Hematology/Oncology Programs, on the clinical scholar pathway with an approximate 50:50 contribution to clinical service and academic pursuits. 

 

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch), the University of Washington (UW) and Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Department of Pediatrics at the UW. The primary appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. Academic appointment at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. University of Washington assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

 

The selected individual for the advertised position is expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research related to the field of pediatric hematopoietic cell transplantation. Specifically, we are seeking individuals for this position who will have clinical and research efforts focused on transplantation for malignant and/or non-malignant conditions, treatment and prevention of transplant related complications, quality improvement, gene therapy, or other relevant areas of pediatric transplantation. Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary interest in pediatric hematopoietic cell transplantation as well as an active clinical research interest, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, in the application of transplantation to the treatment of human disease.   

 

Applicants must have an MD and/or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and US board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $200,181 to $215,795 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank. Pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance and sign-on bonus.
