The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) is seeking a BC/BE orthopedic surgeon to join our growing program. We are seeking candidates with excellent clinical skills and experience in the full range of general orthopedic care. VAPHS is one of the largest VA healthcare systems in the United States with state-of-the-art surgical technologies and serves as the acute tertiary care referral center for a large veteran population in Western Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas.

VAPHS is home to four VA Research Centers that fuel research and clinical collaboration across the VA ecosystem and beyond. We also partner with UPMC, University of Pittsburgh, and other educational organizations. We're uniquely positioned in the health care delivery, academic, and research worlds, and we use our strengths and partnerships to improve medicine for all Americans.
The ideal candidate will be board certified/eligible and have experience in the following areas: invasive surgical techniques; robotic surgery; total joint procedures/revisions; and major joint surgery in a teaching setting.
Practice Highlights:Expertise in total joint procedures and revisions preferable.Knee and Hip replacement.Provides comprehensive Orthopedic care services as well as follow-up care of existing conditions and management of emergency situations.Provides pre-operative and post-operative Orthopedic services, including hospital rounds for orthopedic patients.Perform Orthopedic Surgery in the Operating Room during established block times and during emergency call.Conduct weekly outpatient and inpatient clinics.Provides non operative orthopedic hospital rounds for orthopedic patients.Document services through appropriate notes, such as history and physical, progress notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.Educate Residents and students in the principles and therapy of complex and basic Orthopedic Surgery.Benefits Highlights:Student loan repayment up to $200,000 on eligible loansRegular salary increases and annual performance bonuses50-55 days of paid time off (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 Federal holidays, up to 5 days for CME)Three-tiered Federal retirement program (vested after 5 years) with VA contributing 16.6% to FERS and up to 5% matching for the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) (401k)Federal health/dental/vision/long-term care insurance offeredMalpractice insurance with tail coverage providedNo physician employment contracts and no significant restrictions on moonlightingInterested physicians may send CVs to Michael.Hahn4@VA.gov
