The Opportunity
A Lab Technician at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company.  Reporting to the Lab Manager, part of your specific responsibilities, in the following areas, you will:

  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Assist the tech services group on projects.
  • Assist in laboratory operation and management.
  • Analyze control charts to verify that instruments are in control.
  • Prepare samples for shipping.
  • Organize and complete studies and report the findings.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of instruments and coordinator repairs, if needed.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment and solutions are properly maintained.
  • Develop and administer maintenance and calibration procedures.
  • Ensure that calibration and maintenance programs are adhered to as required by military contracts.
  • Priority in safety and environmental compliance.
  • Willingness to multitask and manage different projects simultaneously.

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Lab Technician opportunity, you will have:

 

  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite software.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of petroleum products.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach – fully use the laboratory
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and on occasion more
  • 20/40 vision (with or without corrective lenses), hearing ability
  • Wear necessary safety equipment (e.g. safety glasses, earplugs, steel-toed boots, hard hat), as required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree, Engineering preferred, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledgeable with modern analytical instrumentation, including monitoring, calibrating, and maintaining. (Wet chemistry, chromatography, physical state analysis)
  • Chemistry knowledge in a refinery laboratory also preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of petroleum products.
  • Knowledge of the ASTM methods used for petroleum testing desired.
