The Opportunity

Our Rapid Diagnostics division currently has an opportunity for a Senior Manager, Global Molecular Technical Product Support in Scarborough, Maine.

Weâre looking for a strong technical leader who will provide strategy, direction, scientific leadership and subject matter expertise for Molecular based rapid diagnostic products across multiple sites.  This individual will be responsible for technical product support of on market products and oversee technical issues related to product availability resolution, product improvements, internal and external investigations, design changes, support design transfers, and lead strategic business initiatives in a Global environment. This position also has responsibility for enabling successful operational performance through support of efficiency improvements, cost reductions; quality improvements and commercial enhancements to on-market products.

What Youâll Work On

  • Set department vision and strategy, plan, coordinate, coach, develop, hire, communicate and direct the use of personnel.

  • Build new production and technical capabilities within the organization

  • Lead technical experts and cross-functional team across multiple geographies for; resolution of internal and external failures using six sigma methodologies, product improvements, design changes and product availability issues.

  • Provide innovative solutions and strategies, technical communications, and projects designed to improve cost profile, reliability, manufacturing capability and robustness, profitability and global acceptance of an Abbott product.

  • Responsible for assessing technical changes for the products and providing direction for executing sound design verification and qualifications  across sites and platforms. 

  • Oversees experimental planning, execution, interpretation and documentation in response to quality issues or for proactive improvement purposes. Facilitates change management process including impact on design history file and device master record.

  • Identify and resolve internal and external customer issues through understanding of processes, product performance and clinical utility.

  • Challenge the status quo to ensure diverse technical solutions are actively pursued allowing for the best decision to made that is technically sound as well as one that benefits the business

  • Interact with management to reach agreements regarding significant program strategies, funding and prioritization of projects/programs.

  • Constantly monitor and communicate changing project priorities to assure that efforts of the Global group are applied to the most important work.

  • Lead the evaluation of skill requirements to support current and future business strategies, utilizing the talent management process to ensure a robust pool of available talent.

  • Liaise with R&D for new products to ensure lessons learned are communicated and assays can be supported efficiently post launch.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorâs in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Cell or Molecular Biology

  • At least 10 years Industry Experience in product development, manufacturing, R&D or design transfer

  • Leadership Experience Required

  • Technical Expertise in PCR and/or NEAR Technology a must.  SME knowledge of oligonucleotides, HPLC, purifications, Enzymes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Cell and Molecular Biology

  • At least 5-7 years Industry Experience in product development, manufacturing, R&D or design transfer

  • Previous Leadership Experience in a  Molecular role

  • Lyophilization and Statistical Analysis expertise preferred

The base pay for this position is $125,300.00 â $250,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
