The Medical Office Assistant with Johns Hopkins Medicine, Arlington provides for the smooth flow of patients through the practice, for the proper disposition of telephone calls that are received by and originate from the practice, and for the coordination of patient appointments and correspondence. The Medical Office Assistant offers friendly, courteous assistance to every customer to ensure that they have a positive, professional experience.
Shift:
- Full Time
- 40 Hours Per Week
- 8:00am-4:30 pm
Education/ Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One (1) to three (3) years of related medical office experience preferred
Medical Office Assistant Job Summary:
- Promptly receives patients, visitors and staff entering the department
- Completes appropriate telephone encounter/on-call slip and forwards call to the appropriate staff member; takes accurate detailed messages from callers
- Collects time of service payments, co-pays, and issues receipts and prepares cash settlement records daily according to established procedures
- Ensures proper completion and filing of medical records duties according to site/department policies
- Prepares appropriate registration/insurance forms with proper patient information and labels.
- Coordinates scheduling with other departments and services as applicable
- Establishes and maintains files, logs and statistics based on operational needs
- Responsible for maintaining adequate departmental supplies in relation to their particular clerical area
- Communicates accurate information to patient in relation to co-pays and other information as appropriate
- Applies effective communication skills to elicit necessary information from patient/family
- Assist in providing coverage in other office practices as determined by the manager and/or appropriate Regional Director of Operations
- Directs and assists patients, visitors and staff to the appropriate resources to resolve questions, problems, issues, etc
- Provide information related to quality of care, safety, risk and customer satisfaction issues
- Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance for interactions involving patients, employees, and business information
Salary Range: Minimum $20.10 per hour - Maximum $33.16 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
