Duties
  • Receive and review individual prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals, to include controlled drugs, to determine kind, strength, and dosage of drugs to be dispensed.
  • Process prescriptions by data entry and verifies prescription orders.
  • Conduct interviews with patients or their caregivers for the purpose of establishing medication history.
  • Interpret orders for appropriateness and conformity with established pharmaceutical standards.
  • Perform final pharmacy check on bulk drug orders, unit dose carts, and stock for point of use cabinets that are issued to medical use areas within the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) IAW local policy.
  • Prepare, package, and label prescriptions and drug orders as ordered by the pharmacist.
  • Answer routine inquiries from doctors, nurses, and other medical staff on the availability of specific items, e.g., drugs in stock, new drugs on order, and dosage forms available in the pharmacy.
