* Hospital is a privately owned, 78-bed acute care hospital nestled between the redwoods and the Pacific Ocean, just minutes away from a river, bay, beaches and forests. Arcata is an open-minded and welcoming small city, valuing diversity, culture, art, entrepreneurship, and the protection of its beautiful natural environment. Arcata is just 80 miles south of the Oregon border and 275 miles north of San Francisco, and is known for clean ocean air, moderate temperatures and beautiful landscapes with giant redwoods, flowing rivers and farmlands.

**The Location:**
Despite its remote location behind the "Redwood Curtain" and population of just 130,000, Humboldt County is home to a vibrant community and culture, with beautifully preserved Victorian-era historic towns, several family operated livestock and dairy farms, and more artists per capita than any other county in California. Our community is rich in the arts: music, theater, dance, concerts, art galleries, and hand-crafted jewelry, woodwork, and artwork in all mediums.

The local airport is serviced by United Airlines/Skywest, with daily flights to major airport hubs in California.
