POSITION TITLE: Toddler Lead Teacher

REPORTS TO: Head of School

SCHEDULE: Typical school hours are 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday.

POSITION STATEMENT: The Montessori Teacher acts in accordance with Montessori philosophy, HCMS mission statement, HCMS Employee Policy Manual, Parent Policy Handbook and other written policies/procedures and verbal instructions.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Montessori Certification through an accredited Montessori Training Program (MACTE/AMS/AMI) in accordance with classroom assignment;
- Bachelor's degree;
- Meet school/state education requirements including, but not limited to, applicable teaching certification and workshops as required;
- At least 2 years teaching experience preferably in a Montessori environment;
- Complete 24 hours of continuing education (CEUs) during the academic school year with a focus on targeted areas of growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General

- Ensure the safety and welfare of all students and help maintain an environment that meets state, health, fire and child-care requirements;
- Perform tasks necessary to maintain a clean, orderly and attractive Montessori environment;
- Conduct him/herself professionally by respecting student and school confidentiality;
- Help maintain a positive school environment through student, parent, and staff relationships;
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership in the design and implementation of the school's overall program and mission.

PROFESSIONAL:

- Develop a classroom schedule and lesson plans that provide opportunities for a variety of work options, large blocks of uninterrupted work time, a consistent, dependable routine; and establishes long and short term goals for group and individual students;
- Participate in cooperative group work and peer teaching;
- Demonstrate ability to observe students' learning and needs and respond appropriately.

COMMUNICATION:

- Understand and communicate the school's mission, purpose, objectives and policies to parents and staff in a positive and supportive manner;
- Develop and maintain positive parent/staff partnerships and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with parents.
