The Albany Veterans Affairs Medical Center has an opening for a full-time Sleep Physician within the Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Service. The Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Section is a pillar of the institution and boasts a strong clinical and teaching reputation in the region. Duties
The Albany VA has an opening for a full-time Sleep Physician. The position involves inpatient and outpatient Sleep Medicine. The candidate will have educational responsibilities for Pulmonary/Critical Care fellows on Sleep rotation, Internal Medicine residents and medical students on electives rotations. Applicants must possess a full and unrestricted license in any state and must qualify for an academic appointment at The Albany Medical College of Union University.Applicants must be board certified in Sleep Medicine. Having board certification in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine are desirable.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Attending responsibilities for the Sleep Clinic, interpretation of sleep studies, oversee the quality and interworking of sleep lab, work with Respiratory Therapy Department to manage sleep patients.
- Teaching is an integral part of the work of a VA staff. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and Fellows is required.
- The staff Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Specialist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested.
- Inpatient and/or outpatient consultations for Sleep Medicine.
- Must be eligible for an academic appointment with the Albany Medical College of Union University.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
