Actuarial Assistant

Position Overview

We are seeking an Actuarial Assistant who is interested in working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position is part of the Actuarial Student Program and supports the organization's key actuarial functions by assisting with analysis, data preparation, and process improvements. This role is an entry-level position where the candidate will learn through experienced staff and the actuarial exams. Placement within the Actuarial Department will be determined by business need. The position will be based out of our office in New York, NY.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with basic actuarial analysis related to pricing
  • Collaborate within the team to develop and maintain actuarial tools and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of actuarial analyses
  • Assist with the implementation of methodology enhancements and process efficiencies within the department
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate documentation that allows another actuarial staff member to understand and recreate the work product
  • Assist with industry research and studies to support actuarial projects
  • Assist with basic data preparation, balancing, and reasonability checks using SQL or other data tools to support actuarial analyses and reporting requirements
  • Assist with analyzing data and trends to uncover solutions to business challenges
  • Assist with creation of actuarial reports and communication of analysis results within the department
  • Learn about actuarial techniques, data sources, computer programming from experienced staff and research

Salary: $55k - $75k (Starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience).

The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices at least 3 days per week. The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or another field with a rigorous mathematics background
  • Successful completion of at least 1 actuarial exam
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Internship experience preferred but not required
