A Development/Research Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Mossville, IL area. This role supports the development and validation of sensors and switches, collaborating with teams and managing suppliers to ensure robust components for diverse applications.

responsibilities:
  • Support development and validation of liquid level sensors and pressure switches.

  • Work with internal customers domestically and internationally to identify and develop sensors and switches for various applications.

  • Develop robust, cost-effective components.

  • Manage switch and sensor suppliers.

  • Support local team with staff-level responsibilities for other electrical components. Typical Task Breakdown:

    • Support development of continuous oil level sensors for engine applications.

    • Participate and lead projects to develop new components.

    • Develop validation and implementation plans for new sensors.

    • Manage switch and sensor suppliers and process engineering change requests.

    • Support engineering team members with staff-level assignments. Education & Experience Required:

      • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of design or validation experience.

      • Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience. Technical Skills (Required):

        • Ability to read and understand prints, specifications, and standards.

        • Experience managing projects with an unknown solution.

        • Knowledge of oscilloscopes and other electronic tools. Technical Skills (Desired):

          • Knowledge of electro-mechanical components.

          • Experience working with and managing suppliers.

          • Understanding of dynamic systems and control software.

          • Understanding of the off-highway equipment market.
