Overview

The Facilities Management Division is seeking a highly qualified Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician position is essential to the maintenance district as it performs a wide range of duties such as painting, carpentry, minor electrical, dry wall, plumbing, and minor HVAC repairs for the purpose of maintaining and repairing buildings throughout the Central Orange County.

Representative Duties
  • Performs general maintenance and repair tasks for plumbing systems, building envelope, mechanical and / or HVAC equipment, and electrical systems.
  • Performs painting, carpentry, and dry wall repairs.
  • Checks and maintains assigned facilities, equipment or system for preventive maintenance and critical operation factors.
  • Using a variety of tools, test and calibration equipment applies accepted maintenance, service, and repair procedures to maintain or return item to proper operation conditions.
  • Modifies or replaces components as necessary.
  • Consults with specific trades' employees or supervisor on special maintenance and repair problems.
  • Performs service and minor repairs on a wide variety of equipment.
  • Multi-trade assignments and responsibilities based on daily operational needs. 
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a High school or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in skill trade, craft, or maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of revelant education and experience on a year for year basis.

Must possess a valid Class E Florida Driver's License by date of hire. 

Preferences
  • General knowledge of building maintenance (i.e. apartment complex maintenance).
  • Ability to learn and the willingness to be trained and/or obtain training in skilled areas. 
  • Basic skills such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
  • Must be willing to be sent on routine calls (i.e. changing lights, outlets, switch plates, HVAC filters; unstop toilets, etc.) and assist skilled trades personnel when needed. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include weekends, holidays, shifts, standby and after-hours due to operational requirements.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • May be required to possess and maintain the appropriate valid Commercial Driver’s License for the type of equipment operated.

Standard work hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

The initial assignment is Central District however, this position is subject to assignment at any Facilities Management location due to project, task, or operational requirements. 

All applicants selected for hire with Orange County Government must successfully complete a Criminal and Background check.
