Dr. Barry Leonard and Associates has served five generations of families and is well-respected for its advanced expertise in keratoconus management. Established in 1957, this second-generation business is a leading practice in the San Fernando Valley. The office of Dr. Barry Leonard & Associates is also the home of the California Keratoconus Center, a specialty clinic within the primary care clinic. The CKC focuses on fitting a variety of specialty contact lenses for the management of keratoconus, including: scleral, RGP, soft, and hybrid lens designs.
To help support a growing patient base, the business is looking for an Optometrist to add to the team of 14 long-time employees.
About the Optometrist Opening
Dr. Barry Leonard and Associates is seeking an Optometrist passionate about providing the highest level of patient care throughout all patient interactions. You'll provide comprehensive general and medical optometry services, educate patients about their ocular health, and recommend vision-enhancing products. On average, 16 comprehensive eye exams are performed daily, as well as 2-4 contact lens check-ups and/or office visits. Technician support is available throughout exams, utilizing up-to-date diagnostic equipment - enabling you to focus on patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate will be ambitious, responsible, service-oriented, community-involved, and willing to integrate new techniques and innovations that improve patient care.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Current optometry license in the state of California, or pending application to receive a license
- Preferred but not required: ability to conduct exams in Spanish or knowledge of some examination-level Spanish
The practice is offering the following benefits

Unlicensed candidates could begin working as technicians after graduation, prior to receiving licensure. Aside from pay, the clinical experience would facilitate a smooth transition into clinical practice once a license is received.
This opportunity is for 4 full days of work per week (34-hours) and is expected to grow to 5 full days of work (40 hours) by late 2024/early 2025.
