Amentum has an opportunity for a highly qualified Technical Writer/Editor to provide support to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) Science and Technology Division (J85) at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

 You would be an excellent candidate for this position if you:

  • Are a self-starter professional who takes initiative to work independently, after initial instructions are provided.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Have knowledge of the Department of Defense (DoD), and Indo-Pacific Plans and Operations.
  • Have knowledge and experience in writing and reviewing military orders, Standing Operating Procedures (SOPS), and Training Manuals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to the USINDOPACOM Science and Technology Division for writing and editing SOPs designed to support exercises and operations. 
  • Provide analysis and develop documentation for USINDOPACOM J85’s support to training plans and operations.
  • Provide briefings to USINDOPACOM leadership and staff on progress of projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least 4 years of combined experience in the Department of Defense (DoD)
  • At least 2 years of experience at a Combatant Command, Service Component HQ, or other staff HQ
  • At least 2 years of experience in writing military orders, Standing Operating Procedures, Training Manuals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance to apply. Note:  US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical writing experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in the Indo-Pacific Area of Operations (AOR)
  • Experience with Joint/Service plans and operations
  • Proficiency with MS Teams, SharePoint, and Shared Drive folder management

The salary range for this position is $110K to $140K. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
