Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Grade 6 Tech
Purpose of this Position:
- To plan and complete preventive maintenance tasks on department equipment.
- To provide additional technical support for equipment assigned to the department including extruders, draw machines, assembly machines, printing equipment, plugging equipment, packaging equipment, and all other ancillary equipment associated with them.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled maintenance tasks on equipment as planned with the operations team.
- Troubleshoot, debug, repair, maintain, start, stop, set up, equipment to support production
- Assist in existing equipment improvement projects and recommend new ones.
- Assist in documenting, or updating existing documents, procedure necessary for the efficient operations of equipment.
- Understand and enforce workplace safety requirements.

- Plan preventive maintenance Travel Requirements
- Travel is expected to be less than 10% for this role.
Work Hours
- Normal working hours are M-F, 8 hours, shift dependent.
- Overtime may be required to support the 24/7 production environment.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical role within a manufacturing environment.
Skills Required
- Basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Able to read, understand, and use schematics, mechanical drawings, and specifications for troubleshooting and upgrading equipment.
- Working knowledge of standard automation components and sensors.
- Computer literate
- Result oriented, self-starter who can also work effectively as a member of a high performing team.
- Proficient with use of basic hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
- Organized and capable of juggling competing priorities.
Desired
- MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Knowledge of plastic extrusion, molding, ultrasonic welding, UV curing, and thermal forming.

The range for this position is $25.00 hourly rate - $29.47 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
