The Electrical Adjunct Instructor (Part-Time) teaches specific courses and/or topics, as assigned by the Program Director. The adjunct instructor also assists the Program Director with curriculum development, including planning, developing and implementing curriculum additions, deletions, and revisions for assigned course(s). 

DUTIES                                The Electrical Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for teaching theory classes and labs in one or more of the following areas: Industrial Applications including Motor Controls, Ladder Logic, VFD and PLC. Other areas could include, Basic Electricity, Residential/Commercial Applications, Intrusion/Security Alarm, CCTV Access Control, Home Entertainment, Telecom/Fiber Optics, and/or Networking & Rack Systems. 

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

Provide electrical and electronic systems instruction using well-established curricula and develop student skills for assigned courses and shops/labs.Demonstrate electrical and electronic expertise in a fully equipped facility.Supervise student involvement in practical work assignments and school projects, while assisting students with classroom assignments and skill development to encourage successful attainment of program standards.Prepare students for a career in electrical and electronic systems. Assist in overseeing compliance with applicable safety standards, OSHA regulations, accident prevention rules and procedures, and hazardous materials handling requirements in the shop and on all school-related projects.Regularly and consistently monitor and record student aptitude and performance in classroom and/or shop/lab settings by means of standard instruments of evaluation, while also supporting student success.Create a focused and engaged learning environment by being highly motivated and engaging the students in the learning process.Implement the school’s academic policies related to grading, academic probation, course failure, and course failure remediation.Maintain effective communication and close cooperation with the Program Director, Vice President of Academic Affairs and other faculty/staff to effectively attain the overall educational objectives of the program.Serve as a role model for students and embrace/demonstrate the school’s core values.Support student compliance with Williamson’s Conduct Code, including regulations regarding attendance, dress and grooming, drug and alcohol abuse, fire and safety, and those general regulations that embody the ideals of student behavior.Follow all school policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook.Assist students in adjusting to established disciplinary standards and in internalizing the vital moral, ethical, and spiritual values of the school, with special emphasis on developing a strong work ethic.Effectively manage course information and student performance indicators within the college’s learning management system and/or student information management system.Perform other duties as occasionally be assigned by the Program Director, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Provost or the President.

QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                       

A minimum of three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Basic Electricity, Residential/Commercial Applications, Industrial Applications/PLCs, Intrusion/Security Alarm, CCTV Access Control, Home Entertainment, Telecom/Fiber Optics, Networking & Rack Systems.Must be able to show a command of relevant theory and practice, contemporary knowledge, and best practices in the field.Teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary level is desirable.OSHA 30 certification is not required, but desirable.Experience with learning management system is desirable but not required.

STARTING DATE            August 2024

WORK                                  This position requires the instructor to teach in-person.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical demands of the position require standing on your feet for extended periods of time to teach in the classroom.Physical demands also require teaching labs, using visual, audio and computer assisted technology, as needed.
