We are seeking a Senior Manager to play a critical role in advancing our sustainability commitment with a focus on climate and environmental metrics. Leveraging your extensive expertise in greenhouse gas protocols, environmental reporting frameworks, and regenerative agriculture, you will provide strategic leadership to enhance our environmental stewardship efforts and drive tangible results. This role will require close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external partners, and industry networks to catalyze meaningful impact and achieve our ambitious sustainability objectives.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Sustainability Steering Climate & Environment , are to:
- Drive strategy and provide guidance to senior leadership on emerging trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in sustainability and environmental management, informing decision-making processes and guiding long-term strategic planning;
- Utilize profound expertise in greenhouse gas protocols and environmental reporting frameworks such as SBTi, CDP, TCFD, and TNFD to ensure transparent communication and adherence to global reporting standards ;
- Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of innovative initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, promote regenerative agricultural practices, and safeguard biodiversity across our operations and supply chain;
- Monitor market dynamics to identify opportunities for partnerships with key standard-setting bodies, regulatory agencies, ecosystem architects, and market influencers;
- Develop and implement comprehensive climate and nature transition plans aligned with e.g., Taskforce on Nature Financial Disclosures (TNFD) LEAP approach, ensuring measurable progress towards defined CS targets and fostering organizational accountability;
- Drive materiality assessments & execution on behalf of CS to evaluate ESG impacts and integrate sustainability considerations into business operations and investment strategies in collaboration with corporate team;
- Provide expert financial reporting and assurance guidance, encompassing forecasting, market analysis, and tracking of sustainability commitments and strategic nature-based solutions;
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and drive resources allocation strategies prioritizing initiatives aligned with CS sustainability objectives and regulatory requirements;
- Remain at the forefront of emerging trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability, climate science, and environmental management, leveraging insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in sustainability leadership, with a focus on climate and environmental metrics;
- In-depth knowledge of greenhouse gas protocols, nature-based solutions, environmental reporting frameworks, and regenerative agriculture practices;
- Deep understanding of nature-related concepts and their relevance to climate action, corporate reporting, standard-setting, and risk management;
- Proven track record of developing and implementing comprehensive sustainability strategies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental conservation, including biodiversity;
- Proficiency in acquiring, developing, sharing, and utilizing information and knowledge effectively when it comes to internal reporting frameworks and accountability standards;
- Expertise in transparent communication and compliance with reporting standards such as SBTi, CDP, TCFD, TNFD;
- Deep understanding of emerging trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability, climate science, and environmental management, leveraging insights for continuous improvement;
- Proficiency in managing multiple stakeholders and reconciling diverse expectations to cultivate and sustain relationships;
- Demonstrated analytical, negotiating, communication, and advocacy skills to manage complex sustainability partnerships;
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, managing senior-level relationships across geographically dispersed stakeholders in the field of sustainable agriculture;
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to strategically allocate resources and prioritize initiatives aligned with sustainability commitments;
- Strong organizational skills, with ability and appetite to plan, coordinate, and monitor resources, frameworks, and protocols to achieve specific corporate sustainability goals.
