Required Skills:

Privacy Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Source and plan in-depth offensive privacy red team operations.

  2. Execute deep technical, hands-on, offensive privacy testing to identify and exploit privacy weaknesses.

  3. Work with cross-functional teams to drive remediation of privacy weaknesses.

  4. Continuously identify and test ways that we can be better by improving team processes.

  5. Advocate for best practice in protecting user data against privacy threat actors.

  6. Plan and lead campaign-style red team operations testing response capabilities/teams.

  7. Conduct web penetration testing by performing thorough assessments of web applications.

  8. Identify vulnerabilities and potential privacy risks.

  9. Analyze the privacy protections of web servers, databases, and other components of the web application stack.

  10. Perform API penetration testing including assessing the security of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to identify vulnerabilities and potential privacy risks.

  11. Conduct comprehensive, privacy focused, vulnerability assessments of systems, networks, and applications to identify potential weaknesses and privacy concerns.

  12. Analyze the privacy risks associated with the organization's data handling practices, systems, and processes.

  13. Provide recommendations and guidance on mitigating these risks and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.

  14. Participate in operations to simulate real-world attacks and assess the organization's ability to detect and respond to privacy breaches.

  15. Document findings, methodologies, and recommendations in clear and concise reports.

  16. Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders, including management, development teams, and privacy officers.

  17. Keep up-to-date with the latest privacy regulations, industry best practices, and emerging threats.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Security, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or related field. Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:

    1. Software requirements analysis

  1. Software design and development
  1. Software testing and quality assurance
  1. Distributed services and cloud services
  1. Privacy regulations: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act)
  1. Information security: identity, vulnerability detection, and remediation
  1. Scripting languages such as PHP, Python, Perl, or Ruby.

$178,360/year to $185,495/year + bonus + equity + benefits
