The Norwalk, CT office is currently seeking an Underwriting Analyst to support the Employee Benefits team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
- Work as an integral part of the client consulting team
- Analysis and interpretation of health care data, including medical, prescription drug, stop loss, dental, vision, life and disability coverages
- Assistance with budget projections and renewal analyses
- Pricing of benefit changes for health coverages utilizing experience and/or manual rating tools
- Assistance with the carrier/vendor marketing process (including preparing the Request for Proposal and compiling the analysis of the responses)
- Writing reports and memoranda to describe analyses and make recommendations to clients
- Support preparation for client meetings and associated deliverables (i.e. prepare templates and insert supporting documentation)
- Distribution of financial dashboards with commentary around trends
- Working on ad hoc analysis reports and projects
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines while producing accurate detail-oriented work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Positive and approachable, with strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and desire to grow professionally
- Proven problem-solving, analytical and negotiation skills
- Proficiency with project management
- Ability to attend in-person meetings within MA, CT, RI as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline strongly preferred
- 1-3 years' experience of group health underwriting, actuarial or equivalent experience is preferred
- Excellent Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- State Life and Health license required within 90 days of joining
