Enterprise Technology Infrastructure, Platforms & Services (ETIPS) delivers services and operational support to meet business integration objectives. Architecture leadership to provide scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure solutions to meet care delivery business needs and enable future business growth.

As a Principal, Information Security Engineering you will drive, architect and support highly complex projects and solutions that require deep knowledge and skills in cyber security including, but not limited to firewalls, applications, audits, compliance, and policies with a focus on protection of data to minimize/reduce security incidents and risks. You will collaborate across the enterprise with multiple teams/businesses at varying levels to ensure effective mitigation of security risks. You will support and mentor a team of engineers, analysts and architects to help meet the cyber security needs across the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the functional subject matter expert for the Palo Alto Networks firewall
  • Utilize the security monitoring tools to support audits (Ex: AlgoSec, Firemon)
  • Report and review the compliance status and taking remediation actions
  • Determine the severity and complexity of issues pertaining to the security and protection of systems data, (autonomously or as part of a team) to ensure the protections, conservation and accountability of proprietary, personal, or privileged electronic data
  • Consult on various projects regarding secure design standards and security information management
  • Develop and direct implementation of security standards and best practices for the organization
  • Evaluate analysis of suggested solutions and innovative approaches to complex issues, as well as complex conceptual analysis, ensuring implementation
  • Plan, conduct, and respond to internal and external cyber security audits and questionnaires; interpret and document audit results; recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Define, implement, audit, and maintain firewall security policies
  • Lead team activities which include day to day and project based work

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of firewall or cloud security experience
  • 5+ years of Palo Alto Firewall experience
  • 5+ years of Cloud security experience
  • 5+ years of security architect experience
  • 5+ years of firewall rule/policy compliance and governance experience
  • 5+ years of firewall rule analysis and remediation experience
  • 2+ years of experience of leading or mentoring a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AlgoSec, Firemon
  • Splunk experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proven communication skills for team and customer engagement
  • Ability to be a team player

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
