You are accountable for all decisions and actions in the care of assigned patients under the direct supervision of the Radiation Oncology Section Chief or designate. Specific Responsibilities:
As a Radiation Oncology PA you are responsible for providing comprehensive health care to assigned patients. Principal assignment involves responsibilities as a Radiation Oncology PA for the assigned patient group in the Radiation Oncology Service. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Service Line manager or designee may specify alternate assignments. Clinical activities may include, but are not limited to: (1) Clinical assessment and evaluation of patients (2) Health care management of assigned veteran patients with acute and chronic illnesses (3) Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies (4) Consultation and referrals (5) Performing or assisting with marker seed placement, volume studies, and other minor procedures performed in the clinic setting. (6) Health promotion and disease prevention (7) Patient, family, and staff education and counseling (8) Clinical research (9) Informed consent (10) Administrative activities, including performance improvement activities, committee, and task force assignments, and administrative, research, and non-clinical tasks as assigned. (11) Participation in patient care before, during and after radiation therapy, including formulation of survivorship plans as part of follow up care. (12) Help with coordination of care for patients that the Radiation Oncology Section refers outside of the VA Hospital system for evaluation, management or treatment B. Prescriptive authority is in accordance with health care system policy C. Authority is granted to prescribe prosthetic devices, tests, and procedures. The Radiation Oncology PA is responsible and accountable for maintaining BLS and/or ACLS training, National certification as a Radiation Oncology PA and prescriptive authority and for performing activities that reflect the educational, experiential and competency requirements.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
