Audition: October 18, 2024 – 9am-5pm
About the Position:
The Bozeman Symphony is auditioning for the position of Principal Percussion. Throughout the course of our concert season, Bozeman Symphony performances and events typically include a series of seven classical subscription concerts, two Bozeman Symphony Presents performances aimed at engaging and attracting new audiences, a performance of the Nutcracker with the Montana Ballet Company and two combined concerts with our Symphonic Choir. Symphony members are also encouraged to participate in our Education and Community Engagement programs by performing with smaller ensembles around the state of Montana.
A concert cycle typically consists of 4-6 rehearsals beginning on Tuesdays, and 2-3 performances between Friday and Sunday. Rehearsals typically take place during the evenings, and all engagements are held at our hall, Willson Auditorium, located on Bozeman’s Historic Main Street, unless otherwise specified.
Compensation:
Section pay is $90/service for Principals. We offer mileage reimbursement up to $200 for musicians residing in Montana, and travel reimbursement up to $350 for out-of-state musicians. We also provide accommodations during concert weeks, upon request.
Audition Process:
The Bozeman Symphony conducts a multi-round audition, generally consisting of 2-3 rounds. Audition times will be scheduled the day of the audition. The first round is always blind, and following rounds are at the discretion of the committee. Candidates are granted a warm-up period before their scheduled audition time. If candidate does not win the audition, they may also be considered for substitute opportunities.
