What will I be doing?

As a Meal Prep/Steward, you will be responsible for cooking/preparing all food for service to team members in accordance with standards, deliver food to team member lounge and ensure replenishment. Operate dishwasher to properly clean all dishes and cooking utensils used in the kitchen, restaurant, and banquets. Scrub pots, re-stock all supplies, in the assigned areas. General kitchen cleaning duties, including the cleaning and mopping of kitchen floors, trash removal and picking up dirty dishes from guest hallways throughout the hotel. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Wash dishes and other cooking utensils. Restocks all clean glasses, silverware and plates.
  • Produce and coordinate the preparation and service of all food items for team members in accordance with hotel standard recipes or as otherwise instructed by supervisor/Chef.
  • Picks up dirty dishes from guest hallways through the hotel
  • Performs general cleaning in order to stay in compliance with the Health Department.
  • Puts away food stock and dry goods in their proper location, rotating "first in", "first out".
  • Removes the trash from all containers, taking it to the dumpster located on the loading dock.

The staring wage for this role is $18.50 per hour and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.

  • Must be skilled and well versed in all aspects of food production; able to assume any kitchen duty as required.
  • Must possess good working knowledge of fundamentals of high volume hot/cold food production.
  • Must possess working knowledge of most kitchen equipment and tools used in high production operations.
  • Basic mathematic skill to understand recipes, measurements, requisitions, read recipes, and communicate instructions and other information with fellow team members.
  • Good working knowledge of accepted standards in sanitation.
  • Knowledge of operating a dishwasher, floor stripper, buffer.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language in order to read labels to put food and dry goods in the proper place, and communicate with other team members.
  • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to load and unload the dishwasher, handle all sorts of kitchen equipment, knives, slicing blades, etc.
  • At least one-year experience in related field and high-volume operation with some hospitality experience preferred.
  • Food Handler Certification is required.
