Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:


- Perform legal research, writing, and analysis and provide legal advice and policy recommendations on counseling and/or enforcement matters under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA); Clean Water Act (CWA); Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA); Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act (MPRSA); Oil Pollution Act (OPA;, Endangered Species Act (ESA); and/or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

- Build effective working relationships and coordinate closely with Region 10 program clients, including the Water Division (WD) and the Enforcement and Compliance Division (ECAD); EPA headquarter offices including, the Office of Water (OW), Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA), and Office of General Counsel (OGC); other federal partners, including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and U.S. Attorney’s Office; as well as state and tribal legal contacts, to ensure that relevant and accurate information is exchanged regarding actions that may affect Regional program objectives;

- Represent Region 10 in dealings with outside parties, including negotiating administrative settlements and serving as EPA's legal counsel assisting DOJ to ensure that the Agency's views are represented in judicial proceedings.
