Position Overview

As a Maintenance Shift Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success of Kiewit Mining Group by directly managing the execution of maintenance operations. We rely on Superintendents to set the highest expectations among their crew(s) for safety, quality, schedule, performance, and team development.
A strong technical and practical background in surface mining equipment maintenance and leading teams is required. Also, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are considered critical to this position. #LI-WJ1

Responsibilities

Responsible for direct supervision of an assigned crew of maintenance technicians. Assist in the hiring, training, and development of craft personnel to repair and maintain our fleet of heavy equipment. Establishes daily job assignments, authorizes time off requests, completes performance assessments, and initiates disciplinary action and performance improvements. Develop and maintain open communication with crews, field engineers/coordinators, Maintenance, Safety, and Quality. Assist in preparing work plans and scheduling in determining manpower levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements. Examine/inspect shop and field conditions, troubleshoot problems, correct inaccuracies, and implement cost-saving measures. Monitor and adhere to established budgetary guidelines for the job and ensure that cost control measures are followed. Monitor job safety and provide job safety training and awareness for all staff. Monitor quality standards and ensure that technical specifications are being met. Assist with developing entire job schedules, 90-day schedules, and three-week schedules. Monitor job schedule and coordinate work with contractors and deliveries with suppliers and ensure inspections are scheduled appropriately. Advise peers and/or project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in resolving such problems as required.

Qualifications

Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt. A minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Maintenance Shift Superintendent or Foreman in either Coal or Metal/Non-Metal mines or heavy civil construction experience. Must be a self-starter and highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative. Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time. Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Team player who can work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives. Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to travel on short notice. Willingness and ability to relocate to job sites.

Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
