The Pumper Worker will report to the Department Supervisor to fulfill overall labor needs. The Pumper Worker performs manual labor to aid in deconstruction of vessels, removal or pumping of hazardous and non-hazardous material from tanks preventing or obstructing the process of dismantling a vessel or scrapping metal:
The Pumper Worker job duties may require some or all of the following:
- Prepare vessel tanks for testing by opening hatches, valves, doors, etc.
- Remove / Pump hazardous and non-hazardous liquids from tanks in preparation for
cutting.
- Drain equipment’s oil and clean tanks onboard vessels
- Operates gas / diesel equipment and machinery in the process of performing daily
duties.
- Responsible for keeping site and grounds clean and neat
- Performs daily equipment checks
- Picks up necessary supplies and tools from tool room as directed
- Cold cut metallic pipes
- Respond to oil spills
- Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures and operates
equipment safely
- Reports any unsafe work condition or practice to supervisor
- Performs other related and non-related duties as assigned
EDUCATION: High school Graduate or GED preferred but not required
EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years preferred
Prior work experience in an industrial / mechanical setting is highly desirable. Operating or working alongside pumps or related liquid removal materials, handling, or equipment experience also highly desirable.
