Software Development Intern

Emerson’s Process Systems and Solutions business develops automation software to streamline manufacturing processes. We are looking for a Software Development Intern (Summer 2025) who is interested in gaining real-world experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment at our Round Rock, TX location.
As a Software Development Intern, you will join a diverse community and work on cross-functional agile teams responsible for the development of flagship software product. You will collaborate with engineers, test engineers, product owners, team leaders and fellow interns to develop and grow your skills under the mentorship of Emerson engineers.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Work in an Agile Software Development environment as a member of a scrum team.
Implement internal tools, prototypes of new functionality, or other projects related to Emerson product development.
Create architectures and software designs for assigned projects.
Practice full-stack development with the opportunity to learn new frameworks and programming languages.
Demo your work to your team and stakeholders throughout your internship and present at the end of the summer in the Intern Showcase event.
Who You Are:
You are able to manage complex situations and break them down into smaller tasks. You stay on top of new technologies and look for ways to apply it. You can work well with small groups as well as individually.
For This Role, You Will Need:
Currently enrolled in and pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM degree
Demonstrate proficiency with object-oriented programming languages such as C#, C++, Java, or Python
Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Completed courses in: Object-Oriented Programming, C#/C++ Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms
Experience in web software development using React with TypeScript and/or JavaScript
Familiarity/experience using Microsoft development tools
Experience in developing unit tests
Familiarity with Git-based source control
Previous internship experience in a professional environment
Strategic mindset and self-motivated
Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Innovative approach to solve problem
