Key Responsibilities:

The Manager – Corporate Finance position is an outstanding opportunity to become a valued contributor to the dynamic Corporate Finance department within United Airlines. We are looking for outstanding candidates with a passion for finance, an interest in capital markets, strong analytical skills, a successful leadership track record and a penchant for the aviation industry to develop and implement United’s capital strategy. The successful candidate will contribute to key capital structure decisions, including resolving capital needs, analyzing financing proposals and implementing financing transactions – all to help United raise capital as efficiently as possible. Specifically, the successful candidate will work alongside our investment banking partners and finance leadership supporting initiatives to preserve United's fortress balance sheet & minimize its cost of debt.

  • Represent United’s Aircraft Financing team to the global Aviation Finance community (at conferences, Investor presentations & events, etc.) in a hardworking, friendly and professional manner – includes leading a multitude of external relationships (with investment banks, lenders and lessors); soliciting financing bids from financial institutions; negotiating deal terms of potential transactions; rigorously analyzing financing proposals and term sheets; communicating potential transactions to Senior Leadership.
  • Work with financial institutions (e.g., global investment banks & aircraft lessors) to evaluate opportunities to minimize United’s cost of debt and implement financing transactions (including bond issuances / asset-backed securities, finance leases, sale leasebacks) to ensure United’s liquidity needs are met.
  • Lead aircraft financing matters both internally and externally, including the analysis of financing structures, leading RFP processes, negotiating deal terms with counterparts and drafting of term sheets and legal documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with internal constituents in Legal, Tax, Accounting, FP&A, Investor Relations and Treasury Operations to ensure transactions are efficient for United; externally, includes liaising with investment banks, commercial banks, aircraft lessors and external counsel.
  • Support preparation of materials for Board of Directors and Officer meetings related to fleet strategy and aircraft financing; support ad hoc analyses relating to capital structure and financing strategy (examples include lease versus buy economics; resolving efficient mix of fixed versus floating rate debt; evaluation of rate environment and possible hedging opportunities; liability and prepayment management; etc.)
  • Lead monthly & quarterly forecasting and reporting relating to aircraft financing plans in conjunction with FP&A, Accounting, and Treasury (includes forecasting magnitude of future proceeds, rates and timing of cash flows).
  • Orchestrate activities supporting the preservation of fortress balance sheet including the examination of lease proposals, prepayment of debt, swap opportunities (optimizing floating rate exposure in overall debt portfolio).
  • Forecast the impact of debt & various financing decisions on Financial Documents (liquidity, interest expense, debt balance, etc.).
  • Maintain, develop and lead internal databases, financing forecasts, unencumbered/financeable assets, debt schedules, quarter-end materials for 10-Q/K filings.

Qualifications What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or economics
  • 4 years of experience, including at least 3 years in financial analysis role
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to lead multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Desire to identify ways to improve processes
  • Self-starter and “quick study”
  • Solid Office skills required
  • Strong MS Excel skills preferred (and a desire to work extensively within in Excel
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
