PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Responsible for assisting with the processing of orders and customer information to and from MID-CO’s clearing brokers and MID-CO’s Commodity Risk Consultants.  Responsible for monitoring the daily activity input to the accounting system, initiating cash movement between MID-CO and customers, performing the primary duties of all the back office personnel on a daily basis during periods of absence or high volume, updating and distributing trading platform billing for commercial customers, inputting and verifying the accuracy of daily futures and options trades and responding to customer inquiries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Dispatches and records orders with clearing brokers via electronic order entry system and by phone.

Monitors status of working orders and conducts appropriate order checks and verifications with clearing brokers as necessary. 

Works in collaboration with Futures Accounting Specialist.

Assists in monitoring daily customer margin calls outstanding and communications with branch offices & MID-CO staff related to under margined accounts.

Handles margin calls and excess funds by initiating movement, keying into the system and verifying receipt/withdrawal.

Assists in maintaining the MID-CO website for all updates, announcements and improvements.

Verifies accuracy of daily futures and options trades, and reports any discrepancies.

Enters and monitors input of the daily activity to the accounting system.

Responds to customer account inquiries.

Maintains administrative functions for the software application that emails customer statements.

Monitors “longs”, open orders, & important industry trading dates and communicates with customers and MID-CO staff as necessary.

Prepares forms & correspondence pertaining to inbound wire transfers and checks received for payment of margin requirements.

Responds to departmental questions concerning customer trading volume and commissions.

Manage administrative duties to include updating and distributing trading platform billing for commercial customers, updating website data when necessary, sending mass customer notifications, serve as MID-CO’s primary operator, etc.

Pays all invoices received and obtains proper approval for MID-CO.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires an associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or the equivalent thereof, and 2 years or more of related work experience to demonstrate math and accounting skills and the ability to work with complex accounting reconciliations.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Understanding and experience with invoicing, billing, account reconciliation, and other control functions along with analysis and problem-solving skills.

Proven leadership skills and the ability to achieve results through others.

Proven professional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, prioritize work, and deal with deadlines.

Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. 

Proven computer skills in using Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and the ability to learn software tools for business and accounting processes.

Proven “attention to detail” skills.

Ability to maintain complete confidentiality.

Ability to work hours above those considered “normal”.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
