Job Description

The position provides actuarial support in analysis of client-provided and internal mortality and lapse experience, as well as industry experience studies, population trends and relevant third party experience data. This analysis will be used to develop assumptions and to provide insights and key findings about SCOR's claims and persistency to the organization. This role will support the broader organization including Pricing, Finance and the wider Inforce team, in addition to other areas throughout the organization including Sales, as needed.

This position will play a key role in managing the experience analysis component of our new business RFP process.

This position will also be expected to support SCOR's thought leadership through research content for industry publications and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze emerging mortality, persistency, and other experience required to meet organizational needs.
  • Analyze product, underwriting, or other company information for any influences on mortality and lapses from a historical or prospective perspective.
  • Work across the organization to understand drivers of the experience and enhance analytical capabilities, including enhancing the use of predictive analytics, data science, or other statistical analysis.
  • Maintain or develop tools to support the periodic monitoring and tracking of relevant industry and population data
  • Support the development of best estimate assumptions by providing analysis, insights, and recommendations around the assumptions, their development process, and documenting justification for the updates and any judgment used in the assumption development.
  • Support new business activities through management of the experience analysis component of our RFP process
  • Monitor and support improvement of the tools and processes used for studies and analysis.
  • Support sales team activities by providing analysis of client experience for presentation during sales calls.
  • Support the production of internal experience studies, as needed.
  • Communicate results of studies to internal stakeholders as well as potentially to clients and prospective clients.
  • Advance SCOR's recognition among the actuarial community by providing leading edge analysis of industry studies or SCOR's mortality insight study and providing written and verbal presentations to clients and the industry about key findings.
  • Actively participate in SCOR's global knowledge team
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to actuarial students
  • Provide input on other projects and issues as needed, including interactions with Group and senior management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, or related area
  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries with current CPD compliance preferred; Career ASAs considered
  • At least 5 years of actuarial experience involving individual life insurance. Preferred areas of experience are mortality and lapse studies, or pricing (with reinsurance experience preferred).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a group setting with readiness to travel on occasion
  • Experience working with database software, such as SQL or MS Access
  • Experience working with large datasets and data visualition tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Experience with R and/or Python is desired but not required
  • Experience in presenting or writing research papers or other industry participation is a plus
  • Strong skills in MS Office
  • Regular attendance and ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines
