Job Description:

Actuarial Assistant (Hybrid) Primary Duties & Responsibilities The Actuarial Department is responsible for supporting and enhancing sustainable growth of both sales and profits while managing the risks and safeguarding the solvency of Globe life. Actuaries are involved in life and health insurance product design, development and implementation, and the ongoing financial management of the enterprise. This position will be a member of the Globe Life Health Reporting team which is responsible for delivering metrics and analysis to company management and regulatory authorities. They will be integral in transitioning existing processes from SQL Server and Excel to cloud technologies, including Redshift, Aurora, Lambda, IICS, and more. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong data processing and analytical skills complemented with a positive and collaborative attitude and develop strong working relationships both within and beyond the Actuarial Department. • Convert existing SQL queries and Excel reports to a Cloud environment.
• Develop, update, and maintain computer applications, systems, and processes.
• Review and analysis of Globe Life group block of business along with other products.
• Prepare exhibits and reports that describe and explain trends to management.

Required Skills • Robust analytical and problem solving skills coupled with attention to details
• Database and SQL knowledge
• Exposure to programing languages, preferable VB and/or R
• Working knowledge of Excel and Tableau
• Versatile, self-motivated learner with ability to pick up new skills necessary to get the job done
• Strong work ethic with good time management to meet timelines and requirements
• Adaptable to a dynamic environment and changing priorities
• Effective oral and written communication skills

Required Knowledge & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field required.
• Track record of success on actuarial exams
• Insurance industry experience is a plus
• Working experience with any or all of the following is a plus: o AWS Services (such as S3, Workspaces, Lambda, DMS, Glue, and Athena)
o Columnar and relational databases (like Redshift, SQL Server, or Aurora)
o Programming Languages (like Python, R, VB, C++, or Cobol)
o ETL tools (like Dataiku, DataBrew, SSIS, or Informatica)
o Data visualization and reporting tools (like Tableau, Qlik, or PowerBI)
