Auditor (Performance)

Summary

This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Energy in the in the Office of Audits. As a Auditor (Performance), you will support the Director in the daily operations of the office and keeps the Director informed and current on the status of all open audits and projects and otherwise serves as an advocate for proper and full oversight of all audits.

Duties

The selectee performs systematic examination and appraisal of financial and non-financial records, reports, management controls, policies and practices affecting or reflecting the financial condition and operating results of programs and activities carried out by the DOE program offices, laboratories, field and site offices, power administrations, contractors, subcontractors, grantees, state and local governments, and affiliated entities.

You will:

Serve as a member of an audit team ensuring audit readiness and compliance across the activity. Audit objectives can vary to include program effectiveness and results, internal controls, compliance, and prospective analysis.

Plan, conduct, and report on segments of large and complex audits. Audits typically consists of segments (e.g., a program within a DOE activity/entity, or review several DOE facility contractors for a particular function/area such as security, pensions, etc.

Reviews/examines other records and documentation necessary to complete audit assignments and answer objective of the audits. Prepares written documentation in the form of workpapers, memorandum, and reports, outlining the scope and nature of the audit work performed and pointing out discrepancies, errors, and irregularities.
