Participating in HBPC team meetings. 6. Keeping the HBPC team apprised of medical care advances and practice standards.
Arranging physician coverage and communicating the plan of coverage to the HBPC team.
Member of medical staff committees including Professional Staff, Medical Executive Board and Protected Peer Review.
Collaborating with other HBPC Medical Directors, VISN leadership, and VA Central Office staff on program development issues.
Participating in the GEC Committee and collaborating with program managers of home and community based programs to include Homemaker Home Health Aide, Respite, Community Nursing Home, Adult day, Medical Foster Home, State Veteran Home, and Veteran Directed Care programs to provide medical oversight as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities The GEC Medical Director, in collaboration with the HBPC interdisciplinary team, is responsible for:

Assuming primary medical responsibility for HBPC patients.
Identifying the patients' medical problems.
Defining the medical management of these problems.
Determining the need for consultation from medical, surgical, and/or psychiatric subspecialty clinics.
Determining the need for, and facilitating, admission to the hospital.
Visiting the HBPC patients at home, when appropriate.
Serving as collaborator for advanced practice nurses.
Providing medical administrative support such as signing forms requiring physician signature for the HBPC patients.

Other Responsibilities In addition, the GEC Medical Director will be responsible for:

Collaborating with community home health and hospice agencies as needed for HBPC patients.
Following HBPC Staff Safety procedures.
Complying with Medical Center and VHA regulations regarding the use of government vehicles.
Demonstrating work practices that include adherence to Infection Control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment.
Attend facility level meetings in absence of GEC Chief/HBPC Program Director as needed.

Work Schedule:
7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday (Compressed tour authorized)


Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases


Paid Time Off:
50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Licensure:
1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
