Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities: Technical Operations/Maintenance

Technical Operations includes the maintenance, and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading strategic initiatives with the Tech Ops organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our employees and aircraft while stiving for ‘Safety First. Service Always’. This position is also tasked with seeking opportunities to optimize costs and improve our competitive position in the market as the airline and the technical operations organization evolves.

  • Strategy Development & Innovation: Collaborate with cross functional leadership to develop long-term Technical Operations strategies that align with United's overall business objectives. This includes leading the analysis of numerous opportunities for growth, cost reduction, consistency, and innovation in addition to risk identification and mitigation planning.
  • Updates and Communications: Create and present regular updates to key divisional and cross-departmental executives and stakeholders regarding progress, risks and results for key initiatives. Engage with industry contacts to form beneficial relationships for the department and company
  • Resource Management: Be responsible for the allocation and utilization of resources, including people and technology to ensure successful strategy development, analysis and execution.
  • Team Development: Provide mentorship, development and support to direct reports.

NOTE: This position is based at the CSC-Willis Tower, located in Chicago, IL. and considered as a hybrid work-schedule working on a 3-days in office schedule, however, that may evolve with the needs of the company.

Qualifications What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent experience
  • Aviation management, engineering, finance, supply chain, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of the airline industry
  • Strong analytics background, planning and communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, organizational management, identifying improvement opportunities, influencing and managing change
  • Must be willing and able to work a hybrid schedule, in-office at least 3 days a week at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago, IL
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Master’s degree
  • 5+ years’ of experience in data analytics, process improvement and/or consulting
  • 3+ years’ of leadership experience
  • 2+ years’ experience leading/collaborating on large scale growth initiatives
