Duties:
Documents observations, changes in veterans' condition and any missing veteran that does not report for 2-hour bed checks during the night.
Conduct 2 hour rounding on assigned ward and document.
Reports any use of contraband that is found in the RRTP buildings to their charge Nurse.
Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
Gathers data to provide input to the accountable licensed staff to assist in developing and updating care plans.
Develops skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient care requirements within the RRTP
Reports any veteran complaints on their wellbeing, not feeling well, disruptive behavior, or you notice a change in their behavior to the Charge RN.
Sets limits within the CNA/NA/patient relationship which is clearly defined in the VA Black Hills HCS Boundaries Policy.
Gathers mail for veterans when assigned to that assignment on the scheduled tour.
Work Schedule
: Sunday-Saturday- rotating week nights, weekends, and holidays
Additional Pay
:
Shift Differential - 10% of basic pay for work performed during regularly scheduled hours between 6pm and 6am.
Weekend Premium - 25% of basic pay for work performed between the hours of midnight Friday and midnight Sunday. This includes continuous service connected to work performed during these hours.
Holiday Pay - 2 times basic hourly rate for regularly scheduled, non-overtime work on a designated holiday.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
