Full Time Instructor Position - Chemistry

Begin: August 15, 2024

Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Chemistry position. This is a nine-month, non-remote position. The selected candidate will primarily offer instruction in general education chemistry courses for science, healthcare, and nursing majors. 

Qualifications:

A graduate degree with at least 18 hours in Chemistry (not Chemistry or Science Education)
Teaching experience, preferably at the college level.
Ability to convey chemistry concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
Commitment to excellence in teaching.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:

Teach freshman and sophomore chemistry courses for majors and non-majors - both in-person and online
Teach general education physical science courses for non-majors - both in-person and online
Prepare and deliver lectures, lead class discussions, and oversee laboratory sessions
Develop syllabi and instructional materials tailored to course objectives and instructional mode
Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and other assessment methods
Stay current with advances in the field of chemistry and incorporate them into course content
Mentor and advise students on academic and career-related matters
Regularly keep office hours and be receptive to students both in person and electronically
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of instruction and curriculum
Actively participate in departmental and institutional committees
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
